The Killdeer (Charadrius vociferus) is a plover, a widely distributed group of wading birds. Killdeer are known to use the clever “broken-wing act” to distract predators from their nest. I don’t often get the chance to photograph these relatively common birds, in fact, these recent images are my first. Killdeer are not easy targets: they move frequently and with quick movements.
